Solar Energy Safety in 2018

Hello to all. I’m going to be more involved with the content of our blog post for the foreseeable future.  I posted a blog some years ago titled, How Did We Get Here. After stopping at a convenience store for a rest stop, I selected a bottle of pop and a candy bar, took it to the counter and the young lady working there asked for three dollars and twenty six cents! My mind would not compute! 3.26 for a pop and candy bar? Well, I got over it and paid the nice girl and went on my way thinking […]

Amid U.S.’ ‘Rush To Gas,’ Renewable Energy Still Wins: Report

U.S. electricity generators may be committing their customers and investors to as much as $1 trillion in future investment and fuel costs through 2030 as they rush to build new gas-fired power plants. However, advances in renewable energy and distributed energy resources (DERs) can offer lower rates and emissions-free energy while delivering all the grid reliability services that new power plants can, according to a new report from the independent nonprofit Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI). This is a game changer for solar energy because it puts you in control! It means we can now install solar to charge your storage system FIRST and then sell the excess back to the utility at pre-determined rates.  Check Out this Recent Ruling  United States: FERC Issues Final Rule On Electric Storage Participation In Wholesale Markets

Solar Energy Costs Drop 73% in 10 Years!

In some cases, such as for utility-scale solar, that drop was precipitous. IRENA goes as far as to use the word “remarkable.” According to IRENA’s data, the average LCOE for utility-scale solar PV decreased to $0.10 per kilowatt-hour. That represents a fall of 73 percent between 2010 and 2017. The agency uses a cost spectrum between $0.05 and $0.17 per kilowatt-hour for fossil fuel power. Read More

Cost Benefits of Switching to Solar: A State-by-State Guide

Comments are off for this post.
The advantages of solar power and other renewable energy sources are colossal, and arguably necessary for our survival. On solar, the electric grid becomes more efficient and resilient to natural disasters (including hail) and disruptions — not to mention scalable to the 1.3 billion people on our planet living without electricity. On solar, power becomes cleaner, moving us that much closer toward the net zero goal advocated by climate researchers. But the benefits don’t stop there. Solar costs are falling. In fact, the installed price for residential solar systems is less than half of what it was in 2009…
